Highly Appreciated by both Exhibitors & Visitors:

AUTOMECH Achieved Overwhelming Success in its 11th Version

June 12, 2006

On Thursday, June 1st  H.E. Eng. Rashid Mohamed Rashid, Minister of Trade & Industry and Mr. Mohamed Ahdy Fadly, Chairman of Akhbar El Yom Establishment announced the formal opening of the 11th version of AUTOMECH AKHBAR EL YOM 2006, the leading international African Arabian exhibition for vehicles, buses, motorcar workshops, service station equipment, automobile spare parts, accessories and feeding industries that was held during the period from 1-5 June, 2006 at the Cairo International Fair Ground, Egypt. The inauguration ceremony was attended by leading industry and trade figures, besides the famous journalists & writers of Akhbar El Yom, the leading Arab Newspaper headed by Mr. Mohamed Barakat, editor-in-chief Akhbar El Yom, Momtaz El Kot, editor-in-chief, Akhbar Newspaper, Mr. Galal Diwidar, the famous Egyptian writer, all accompanied by a bunch of presidents and/or heads of  the leading automotive companies and associations.

On the second day when general public were allowed to the show, the scene was to remind you of Wimbledon or World Cup at the final match where visitors are waiting in queues for tickets at the entrance gates. The reason behind such enthusiasm was due to the fact that AUTOMECH has become the annual meeting point for both buyers and manufactures who prefer to make special press conferences announcing their new models, services, special offers and after-sales plans. Thousands have already postponed their decision to buy new cars till they see the new models presented at AUTOMECH and to enjoy the special offers and discounts announced during the show.

In  a round over the show, there was only one comment repeatedly heard from both visitors and exhibitors: “The show this year is overwhelming,” thanks to the tremendous efforts exerted by organizers to ensure such impact over the audience. ACG-ITF, the organizers of AUTOMECH added additional ready-made halls to cater for the increasing demand of new exhibitors this year that caused the total exhibition space to reach 36,800 sqm. The show also witnessed a dramatic breakthrough at the number of visitors who  surpassed the number of  380,000. “I personally support every expansion occurs in the automotive market, because it matches the plans of the ministry and the government in general who aim at supporting both the assembly plants and feeding automotive industries. Manufacturers should increase their productivity with a strategic aim of exporting to the regional countries,” said  Eng. Rashid Mohamed Rashid, Egyptian Minister of  Trade & Industry during his tour at AUTOMECH.

The successful version of the event this year has put the organizers to face a big challenge to “keep the good job” and present a more successful version in 2007. “There have been great efforts exerted by everyone in ACG-ITF to have that goal achieved. We feel like being in a marathon that has no end line. When we made a very successful version in 2005, some people were skeptical about the next version in 2006 to be more successful, but we boldly took the challenge and presented a more successful version acknowledged by everyone. But now we have to exert even more efforts to prepare from NOW the 2007 version. In our business sky is the limit,” said Ahmed Ghozzi, Chairman of ACG-ITF.
